Atlas Cookie & Tracking Technologies Notice
Effective Date: 7 September 2026 | Last Updated: 7 September 2026
1. Introduction
This Cookie Tracking Technologies Notice explains how Govtech Africa Limited ("Govtech Africa", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on Atlas (https://atlas.govtechafrica.com). It should be read together with the Atlas Privacy & Data Protection Notice and Govtech Africa's general corporate privacy policy.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small files or pieces of information stored or accessed on a user's device when the user visits a website or uses an online service. Similar technologies may include local storage, pixels, tracking scripts, session identifiers or other technologies capable of storing, accessing or recognising information about a browser, device or session. For the purposes of this Notice, references to "cookies" include comparable tracking technologies where appropriate.
3. Why We Use Cookies
- maintaining secure website sessions;
- authenticating authorised users;
- preventing fraud or unauthorised access;
- protecting network and system stability;
- maintaining accessibility and essential website functionality;
- remembering user preferences;
- diagnosing technical problems;
- measuring website usage where analytics have been enabled; and
- other purposes specifically disclosed through the cookie-preference interface.
4. Strictly Necessary Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies support functions required for the website or platform to operate securely and reliably. They may be used for authentication, session management, security, fraud prevention, load balancing, network stability, accessibility and recording a user's cookie choices.
Where permitted by applicable law, these cookies may operate without optional consent because the service cannot function properly without them. Strictly necessary cookies must not be used as a disguised means of conducting advertising, profiling or unrelated analytics.
5. Preference or Functional Cookies
Functional cookies may remember choices such as interface or accessibility preferences. Where such cookies are not strictly necessary, they will not be activated until the user has made the required choice.
6. Analytics Cookies
Where enabled, analytics cookies may help Govtech Africa understand how visitors use the website, which pages are visited, website performance, errors or technical problems and aggregated usage patterns. Analytics technologies that are not strictly necessary will remain disabled unless the user gives the required consent.
7. Advertising or Marketing Trackers
Atlas is a professional public-sector technology product and does not require behavioural advertising trackers to provide its core services. If advertising, behavioural tracking or comparable marketing technology is introduced in the future, it must not be activated until the appropriate notice and valid consent mechanism have been implemented.
8. Third-Party Technologies
Some website functions may be provided through third-party infrastructure or service providers. Where a third party places or accesses a cookie or comparable tracking technology, the relevant provider, purpose and duration should be identified through the cookie-preference interface before any non-essential technology is activated. Govtech Africa will periodically review technologies deployed on the website so that the information presented to users remains accurate.
9. Cookie Choices
When you first visit Atlas, a visible cookie notice provides the following choices:
- Accept Optional Cookies - permits the optional cookie categories identified to you;
- Reject Optional Cookies - keeps optional cookies disabled; or
- Manage Cookies - allows you to make more detailed choices where multiple optional categories are available.
Rejecting optional cookies will not prevent access to the core website or platform functions that do not depend on those cookies.
10. Default Position
Strictly necessary technologies may operate where permitted by law. All other cookies or tracking technologies requiring consent must be disabled by default until the required affirmative choice has been made. Pre-selected consent for optional cookies must not be used. Silence, inactivity or continued browsing will not be treated as consent to optional tracking where affirmative consent is required.
11. Withdrawing or Changing Consent
You may change your cookie preferences at any time through the Manage Cookie Preferences control made available on the website. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn. Following withdrawal, optional technologies covered by the withdrawal should cease to operate except where retention of limited information is necessary to record and respect your preference.
12. Current Cookie Inventory
Details of non-essential cookies and trackers used on the website are provided through the Manage Cookie Preferences interface. For each non-essential cookie or tracker, the inventory identifies, where applicable, the cookie or technology name, provider, purpose, category, duration or expiry period, and whether information may be accessed outside Nigeria. The live cookie inventory forms part of this Notice.
13. International Transfers
If a cookie or tracking provider processes personal data outside Nigeria, Govtech Africa will assess and document the applicable legal basis and safeguards for the international transfer.
14. Updates
Govtech Africa may update this Cookie Notice where cookies, tracking technologies, service providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will display its last-updated date.
